Private Pilates

Build strong foundations. Move with confidence

Private Pilates sessions are available in my East Ballina studio or online, providing personalised guidance tailored to your body, your goals and your current level of comfort.

Whether you're completely new to Pilates or returning after injury, one-to-one sessions allow us to establish the foundations that make movement feel strong, effortless and sustainable. You'll learn the why behind each exercise, develop confidence in your technique, and gain the skills to continue independently or transition comfortably into group classes or other forms of training.

Private sessions are particularly valuable if you're living with:

  • Persistent low back or pelvic pain

  • Hip, shoulder or neck pain

  • Ongoing stiffness or restricted mobility

  • Postural concerns

  • Hypermobility and a feeling of instability

  • A loss of confidence in your body's ability to move well

More than strengthening

Many people have been told they have a "weak core." In reality, the problem is often more complex.

Over three private sessions we'll identify the movement patterns that may be preventing your trunk from providing natural, effortless support. Common barriers include:

  • Inefficient breathing patterns

  • A stiff or poorly coordinated spine

  • Overactive back muscles doing work the deep stabilisers were designed for

  • Excess tension through the hands, feet or jaw that reflects a whole-body strategy of gripping rather than supporting

  • Protective bracing patterns that developed during an injury and were never fully released

Rather than simply strengthening around these patterns, we'll restore more efficient movement so stability arises naturally from the way your body is organised.

A different approach to movement

My teaching combines the principles of Pilates with JEMS (Joanne Elphinston Movement Systems)—an approach that values ease, efficiency and whole-body connection.

Instead of relying on effort, tension or "holding your core on," you'll learn how relaxation, elongation and coordinated movement create greater strength, mobility and stability with less work.

The goal isn't perfect posture or harder exercises. It's helping you trust your body again.

An investment in yourself

I don't want you to need private sessions forever.

My aim is to give you the understanding, awareness and practical skills to become your own best movement coach.

For many people, three sessions are enough to uncover the key barriers to comfortable movement, establish healthier patterns, and provide a clear path forward. From there you may choose to continue with independent practice, join group classes, or simply move through everyday life with greater confidence and resilience.

Because lasting change doesn't come from relying on someone else. It comes from understanding your own body.
